Golden Plover in the evening sun

The other advantage with the late night summer sun in Iceland, is that you can be out and about whilst the wildlife is at its most active. I’m not sure this is good news for the birds and animals themselves – the near 24 hour days means they are constantly on the go, nesting, brooding and feeding their young for a very short, but very intense breeding period.

This means you have to be responsible when out for an evening stroll. Whilst it’s great to be able to stroll the moors in the glorious light and capture close up images like this, you need to take great care not to disturb all of the ground nesting birds at their most vulnerable.
