Some shots are just fortuitous – right place, right time. I’d love to claim I worked hard for this photo, did the landscape photographer thing, studied the weather forecast and sat and waited for the right light and right conditions to fall into place. I didn’t. We simply turned the corner on the Struie Hill Road from Alness to Ardgay and this was the view in front of us at the viewpoint overlooking the end of Dornoch Firth and the Kyle of Sutherland.

To be fair, as probably one of the finest viewpoints in the Highlands, there is usually a stunner of a scene to look out at from here, no matter what the weather. There can be no finer way to be reminded you are almost home from a trip Inverness way, than to turn THAT corner and see THAT view…
