And… back to Iceland…This is Sólfar or The Sun Voyager, a sculpture of a stylised Viking ship in stainless steel that stands overlooking the harbour in Reykjavik. Created by Jón Gunnar Árnason, it was commissioned to mark the 200th anniversary of the city.The is something very evocative about this sculpture, standing in isolation pointing out to sea as if about to set sail in a dream towards the mountains opposite before heading off to the New World. The stainless steel reflects the sky, making the whole thing harmonic with the landscape around it.
